No way, I don't mind. I just switched service providers for my site, and it's been a little wonky.

Thanks MiniMan!

What did you break?
My friend went a little to crazy with one of the Chapman crane heads, and he almost ripped out a few ports on a Sony Fullsized cam. That could have been - :crybaby:

I was at the Panther booth, playing with a motorized jib. I had the camera upside down, and when I went to bring it back up, the camera fell off. Sadly I think it was a DVX, but I did not want to stick around and inspect it. I felt like an idiot, because it was a really loud crash. But the good news is that it was only about five feet off the ground and didn't hit anyone. I definitely think it was broken though, since the monitor was not showing any signal went I went back later.

You killed a DVX? :crybaby:

That's almost grounds for banishment... :furious3:

Ok, time for an official moment of silence...

... there, done. Carry on...

Jim-They didn't get mad?

Jim-They didn't get mad? That's the question of a man whose looking to do some damage at NAB next year.

Jim-They didn't get mad?

There was a mixed reaction. The guy showing me the jib was really downplaying it. "Don't worry, it's fine. You can keep using the jib"

Not only was that kinda pointless, since there was no camera on it, but I was completely freaked out.

THe other guy, who was at the other end talking to some people, came over, looking a bit unhappy. THey guy by me just turned his back to the other guy and kept talking to me, like he was protecting me.

Now I don't don't know if guy number 2 was mad at me, or if he was mad at the first guy. Maybe he was just freaked that he almost got brained. Obviously someone did not have the camera secured properly.

I gently lowered the jib, took his card and the literture and booked out of there. I found my team at another booth snickering. They gave me grief every time I tried to touch another piece of gear.

How did it FALL off? Was the baseplate screw just not in there good, or did somthing on the jib break?

Jim Brennan

I honestly don't know. I was looking at the guy, the monitor and the controls. Then I felt the weight shift and looked up to see the camera crashing down. I didn't ask to examine it. It didn't seem like the jib was broken though.

Wow, what a story. I've heard of that happening, but never knew a guy who did it.
It hurts just to hear about it. I wonder if someone from Sony handled the unit before you? :)

I hate to laugh, but boy, "you can keep using the jib"...man...that's just funny.

we all can say stupid things when faced with nervousness/panic.

..."the meat fell out, but you can keep eating the hamburger."
..."you have no P2 card, but you can keep using the HVX-200." ha.
