Hi guys. I have a question for owners of HV20. I didn't find this question in this forum, so forgive me if was asked before.
I didn't have any contact with HDV so far and I'm planning to go in HDV universe over the HV20. I was just wondering does it transfer a full 1920 x 1080 resolution to MiniDV tape? Cause I read somewhere that it actualy transfers 1440 x 1080 with 1.33 aspect ratio.
So if anyone could clarify that for me that would be great.

It has a 1920x1080 sensor but it can record 1440x1080 with 25Mbps data rate due to HDV compression.

Thanx for your reply, Vsansal. I thought that was the case. That's more than enough resolution for me.
Do you own HV20? Can you tell me few things that you really like about camera and few things that you don't, and also do you recommend buying it in that price range. I read a lot of info on the net but would like a first hand advice.
Thanx for your time.

I've had an HV20 for a over a week now...
Good things: 24p, good low-light, cinema mode, exposure control, lightweight
Bad Things: Plasticy build quality, No gain disable, and having only aperture OR shutter control instead of both.
Overall great value... (hopefully a firmware update can fix some of the issues)

Thanx, Solomon. Can you tell me about that focusing dial, cause I heard that its not so good. It's still best than some menu focusing, but I read that is too clumsy.

I am sorry I don't own one but from what I see so far I can tell you that it is a great camcorder and it will be the shining star of 2007.

Yeah, that is a really a great camcorder for that money. You can really do a lot with it. I personally plan to get seriously in documentaries and short or feature films. I plan to use a lot of CC and 3D in my work, so I could really use that huge resolution.
So far the clips and stills from this camcorder are looking great. I especially like that true 16:9, which you only have on much expensive camcorders. And finally there is a camera in this price range that has both microphone and headphones in.
Now, I just have to get some cash for buying it.
