Yeah man. Tuesday and no images or updates?
Anyone check out the Reel-Stream Booth?
Comments, sighting, prices, photos?
Hi guys, I stopped by the Reel-Stream booth yesterday at the very back of the Central Hall near Arri. Met with Juan and his brother, nice guys. As for the Hydra, Juan said that they would be beta testing it in two or three months from now. He also stated that the raw uncompressed footage would amount to about a 100 gigs per hour.
They had a Cinema Display looping some footage, but there was no footage from the Hydra available. Juan said that he would post some comparative screenshots here in a couple weeks or so from the HVX-200 mod. The thing that impressed me most is that the mod will open up the f-stop latitude to 11 from the DVX-100 mod's 8 or so, giving you an extra couple stops. I made an observation later with a guy from the Red Rock booth that losing a stop and a half with the 35mm adapter could be compensated with the Hydra.
I did get a spiffy new mousepad.

So wait... there's nothing to show from Hydra this NAB? I thought he said they were posting up comparison photos and such during NAB, not weeks after.

Yeah, unfortunately there were no shots or footage from the Hydra they had on display for the show.

Also stopped by the booth as well. The HVX they hadd there had a mod back by the back left corner of the camera. The port looked like a locking Lemo connector that became a Gig-E cord. Pretty cool.
Juan also mentioned that the port would carry video, start stop from the camera button an audio, and could be run up to 300 ft!
Nice guys, great product (in development, I know).
The Andromeda footage looked AWESOME!
I asked if they were gonna paint the HVX red, he said, no, maybe blue.

Great to hear.
Any physical description of Juan to share? Short, tall, dark, light, voce, high pitched or low, did he smell, good or bad?
I'm serious I've never met the guy.

Whats sick about wanting to get to know the man behind the technology? You youngstrs have no grasp of the importance of history and historical figures. 4 shame....
