HVX rebate---early bird gets the shaft

Is it just me that thought they were eligible for a free 8gig card only to find they'd bought the camera too early? What's her name at the rebate center told me I would get the book, but not the card, because I bought my camera before October '06. Bummer. I even own the P2 Store and still just got ONLY the book. Which I now have 2 copies of and use constantly, one copy for my desk, one for my camera bag (don't leave home without it). Sometimes the early bird gets the shaft.

I just do not understand posts like this. Camera prices always come down or rebates become available after the product has been out for a while. I bought my HVX before the P2 rebate was available--in fact Panasonic hadn't even announced the rebate for Barry's book, which they made retroactive to my delight. I got exactly what I expected when I placed my order, more even, and do not feel like I was shafted because a promotion that was not promised to me later became available.

I am not trying to start an argument here. Just felt compelled to add my $.02 after reading so many posts along these lines.
