Can anybody with a DVX100 and a HV20 post some comparison clips of the same thing being shot? I'm trying to choose between the two and would like some advice!

thanks

If you'd look at a still of a 1080 grab from the HV20 vs. a SD grab from the DVX you'll most likely choose the HV20; but that is SOOOO not the only thing that's relevant here.
You'd first have to know what you're going to shoot, and who/what you are going to shoot for.
They really are completely different tools, that get used differently. Well, sort of.

If you like professional, manual controls, don't mind SD and have the money, go with the DVX. If you want HD and 24p for dirt-cheap with less pro manual control, go with the HV20.

Put it to you this way, I'm selling my DVX because I love the HV20, but I already miss the focus ring/zoom ring and Cine-Gamma modes. However, when I "see" the 1080p picture the HV20 puts out on my screen, I easily forget and I am very happy with the purchase.

I say, go HV20, get HD and save some cash but like vidled said, they are completely different tools.

Another thing I'm planning to use this for is wedding videos and band music videos. With the DVX it just "looks" more professional even though the HV20 ultimately has a sharper picture. I do like the HV20 a bit more but is it worth sacrificing the "pro-look" factor and manual controls?

I wouldnt lose the manual controls if you are going to shoot weddings and music videos. I havent used an HV20, but I'm thinking you are not going to have the control over the light that'll you'll want in the end. And while its not HD, the DVX puts out some pretty impressive pictures. My vote is DVX. No screengrabs here, but those wont tell you how nice it is to have a focus ring or a manual zoom and iris... and built in ND filters... and xlr's... and DV is so much easier to edit and acquire compared to HDV... the list goes on and on from my perspective.
