First post, howdy, awesome resource this place is.

I'm going to be picking up an HVX and plenty of equipment, from lighting to microphones, and I was wondering what are some of this community's most trusted sellers? I've been browsing for a few days and figured out two: B&H Photo and EVS.

I've seen AVS mentioned a lot, but I can't find out what it stands for.

So if anyone could give me a heads up on a few Internet retailers, I can work out this budget.

Much appreciated.

Spec-comm is a trusted site. The bay is always a good place to get deals but you have to be very careful when buying off the bay. There is tons of grey market stuff. If you ever see a price on something that is way lower than MSRP, its probably either incomplete or grey market.

B&H and EVS seem to get the lion's share of business from HVXers. They are two very different creatures, though: B&H is a huge retailer that keeps it's prices low through the sheer volume of its sales -- no handholding for timid newbies here, thank you very much. EVS is a small operation that offers personalized service at slightly higher prices than what you'll find at B&H. Spec-comm has been mentioned, and you can also ad ZGC and Abel Cine Tech, both of which offer famously excellent service. For audio gear, Trew Audio and Coffey Sound are to be trusted, and if you're interested in Oktava mics, most here wouldn't even consider any place other than The Sound Room.
