Last night I was browsing the HVX 200 forum and stumbled across a post that led me to this web site http://www.hdvxdv.com/ From reading the web site I was unsure if it would support the codec from the HV-20. I e-mailed their support which was instantly responded. I was assured that the application worked with the HV-20. There is a free trial but I have not purchased a HV-20 so far because of the hassle of removing the pull down. I know, kinda silly. But anytime you spend more time trying to get something to work that actually using it I am a bit weary these days.

Does anyone have experience with this application? Where does the pull down removal stand at this point for a Macintosh FCP user?

I was kinda hoping someone with a HV-20 would download the free trial of this application and test it. If i can find one of these cameras in Boston over the weekend I will buy one and test it myself.

Barring that, kinda hoping for a kind adventurous soul to do the work...

I will be receiving tghe camera on Tuesday and will test it soon theresafrter. I just don't want to fiddle with manual pull-down removal . BUt are you you sure that program can do 1080P progressive?

That I am not sure of. It says 720p but gets a little vauge about the 1080. Their support said it does work, Fortunately there is a free trial. Hopefully tomorrow I can find the camera for myself. Who knows?

Tomorrow if we are lucky, Apple might have some annoucements that make all this moot. I hope FCP 6 will strip the un-needed frames on import.

Actually, with this camera aimed at consumers, you would think iMovie and FCE would support the 24P HDV codec. It only makes sense. The home user shooting 24P Hollywood films and cobbling them together in iMovie on their iMacs....

They already do. You don't have to remove the pulldown to edit. The 24p mode from the hv20 looks fine when edited in a 60i timeline, just people like to remove the pulldown because they prefer discreet frames.

So in short iMove and FCE can both edit canon hv20 24p.
