I received my Brevis this morning and immediately slapped it on my HV20. quite literally shot this footage five minutes after opening it.

eager to spend some quality time with it (and CF3) to really dial it in. will be pairing it with an HVX200 this fall to lens a feature.

more footage from later that day yesterday, going to lunch with my cohorts...

this obviously has had a 2.35:1 matte thrown on top of it. some mild cc -- desaturated a little, etc. same lens and cam as before. you'll see i wasn't zoomed in far enough on some of the footage.

Wow, that's a shallow depth of field. Not much distortion or colour fringing. It's incredible. How was focusing?

Can you post a picture of your rig?

focus is a bit of a guessing game. on the little flipout lcd, it's just a matter of "knowing" your lens, being familiar with it, and intuiting the midpoint in the range where the subject appears to be in focus.

my "rig" is nothing more than an HV20 with the Brevis screwed on to the front of it. no rail support, no follow focus, no monitor.

Wow, are you serious? Can the HV20 handle the weight og the brevis+achromat+lens? I saw the HV20 on a store today and I had no idea it was THAT small.

Seriously, Zak, I'm very curious on how you managed to use the brevis with the HV20 with no rod support. Would elaborate on that? When I'm using a heavier lens I feel reluctant on using a screw on 35mm adapter straight on the A1...not to mention the tiny HV20.

Raf, it's more like the hv20 attaches to the Brevis as opposed to the Brevis attaching to it. The HV20 with battery and tape weighs in at 600 grams. The Brevis + 72mm achromat + f1.4 Minolta 50mm lens weighs in around 760 grams. Hand held, I could see no issue at all as the balance issue dictates two hands in use. Once you tripod mount, I would suggest rails.
