Just used the money i was planning on using to buy a DVX to buy myself a Nikon FE. No regrets though, I was planning on waiting till NAB and a couple more months after that for the price to drop (hopefully). Also got a Nikor 50mm F1.4 while I was at it. I was planning on improving my shot composition, lighting, focusing and other fundamentals of filming (minus the movement) with photography.

Because the Nikon FE is a film camera, if i want to upload it onto the computer, I'll have to scan them in right? By any chance, do you lose picture quality, resolution when you use a scanner? If not...i'll be posting quite a bit in this section and the photo competition thing

Still photography was the first class I had to take to get into the film program.

It'll teach you a lot of what you stated...

You can probably find a place that will give you a CD with the images on there in addition to the regular prints... they would probably be able to scan the photos better for you since they should have a film scanner.

For $600 you can build yourself a nice home darkroom to develop your own material... you might be able to do it cheaper but depends how much you invest on an enlarger. Here locally we have a community darkroom that costs $25mo.

Wow, 600 isn't bad at all! Is that color or b&w? I've got so much to learn... Jeremy, I have a feeling I'll be driving you nuts pretty soon.

For $600 I can have my own darkroom? That's it? Might look into that after I get my DVX, lights, sound, blah blah blah...

Do they have a website that tells you how or do you buy it in a kit?

People are dumping their home darkrooms all the time as they move to digital (I'll be selling my own stuff soon). Look on Craigslist. Nothing looks like film, so enjoy.
