Hi i have not been around in a while and maybe this is old news or posted in the wrong forum.I love my hvx 200 and was one of the first in the uk to recieve one i have a firestore and a steadicam merlin and have had great results with the system and i cannot say a bad word against it.But i am selling it all to upgrade to the hpx 500 to me it looks more impressive being a 2/3 camera, and i am hoping that i see a difference in the final output stage just wondering was anyone going to do the same?
SORRY should be in the hvx200 section

It doesn't sound to me that you should be selling your HVX. It seems to be working well for you and the 500 would be a lot heavier and won't work with a steady cam merlin. I know you are selling all of it but you really don't need to. I would recommend against buying it and just renting it as you need it. Remember you can get almost 4 HVX200s for 1 HPX 500 with lens price. I would suspect your money is better spent elsewhere.

What surprises me is that you can get the hvx with the fs100 to WORK with the Merlin
How did you accomplish that?

I do not own an HVX200, although I am a fan. I was actually considering purchasing one, but then the HPX500 came onto the scene. The HVX200's size was one of my only hang ups as I am used to full sized cams. And clients don't always understand that size isn't the only "measurement". Being from the full sized cam camp I already have everything needed for it (power, tripod, etc.) so my investment is limited to the cam itself. So it made since for me. I am hoping once the cam begins shipping they will open up a forum specifically for it as well with as many helpful people as on the HVX200 forums.

I think you'll find it integrates nicely with us here. The HPX500 is really a totally-pimped-out HVX200. All the same functions from the HVX200 are still there, but with just more/more/more of everything. So I expect that you'll find that all your questions and such will have a tremendous amount in common with HVX users; we may just leave HVX & HPX500 users all mixed together and see how that goes. If it needs to be separated out we can do that too.

Glad to hear it! Especially since I am new to the HD/P2/VFR work flows. I am currently in DVCPRO tape land, so I am really looking forward to tapeless acquisition!
