First directing job today... commercial for a youth organization group. I thought it looked good on my 22" Gateway monitor... but man when I got to my actual HD TV it was so freaking stellar.

I loved the comments I was getting from the client while I had the LCD setup. "Oh my gahd look at that image. It's so nice!" I really have to get an onboard Monitor, though. The Marshall, just from what I was doing today, seems so much more reasonably priced in a setting where you can't lug a 22" around.

Man, I've never had the pleasure of using Promists myself... and a pro matte box. It was soooo dope.

Shooting out in the blazing hot sun with a 1/4 black was NICE.

Oh and the p2 workflow is so extra sick in run small run and gun situation. I had 4 8gb p2 cards and I didn't even have to offload once.

great to hear you found love.

I just got out and started using it myself, so it's different than renting it out for like five months.

Alexa has one as well! How are you liking yours?

so far, so good, but many features are totally underutilized for a while. hopefully these things will come along..

-Firestore is in repair ( taking an estimated ONE MONTH? they're killing me..)
-no p2 cards, yet

but I've had 3 shoots in the past 2 weeks with it and in DV mode, its been nice. I'm really looking forward to the new workflow, a lot to learn! I have the bootcamp DVD and have been watching it as part of my self-training. the reinforcement definitely helps.

Kholi,

I agree.

The HVX can be just amazing when properly adjusted.

Find the settings's sweet spot for a given situation or desired look, et voilą!

I'm still amazed after 1 1/4 year of use.

It's a true professional camera.

I'll try to put something up from one of the recent projects when I finish editing and correcting.

Antoine-- I know you're an advocate of all cameras that can get it done AND your a RED reservee. I still wonder how it holds up to the A1 in lowlight every now and again...

Then I play with the p2 cards for a few minutes and I can't go back. Even though they aren't extra streamlined (Considering the fact that you need PCMCIA slots like in every computer you use) I still think they're THE greatest workflow for myself.
