They won't match up well! The HV20 has out performed in core image even my HVX200 material I shot; so there is no way that the dvx of any kind will deliver a core image even remotely close.

I guess you could downconvert the HV20 HD to SD. But then you'd be losing all of that glorious resolution.
Actually, I may try this approach for an upcoming project about the Leukemia Society. I've shot some footage with my DVX100a, and some with my HV20. In this case, SD will be fine since it will be delivered on DVD.

I think it can work. Use the Canon for wide shots and the DVX for close ups. Should work fine since they are both 24p. Stay away from detailed scenes with the DVX though at wide angle.

I have a DVX100A and HV20 and find it hard to choose between the two for some reason...the HV20's picture looks so much crisper, even though there are other tradeoffs.
I think for documentary work, mixing the footage is fine...but for narrative stuff it might not be as acceptable....

That seems really difficult to believe. However I don't own either an HVX or an HV20. Could you post examples?

Nevertheless, if you're a regular reader of these boards, you might easily know why.
Not being, download the footage samples & grabs and take your own conclusions.

I was planning to buy an HV20 to pair with my DVX for it's 24p capabiliites.
But I haven't worked with HD at all, would I have to down convert before I start editing... any ideas how that would work?
I use Vegas 7.

i'm also planning on buying an hv20 and i have vegas 7. i'm probably going to buy cineform to downconvert
by the way, does anyone know if i buy NEO HDV, can i upgrade to NEO HD later? or do i have to pay the full price for both?
i really want to take full advantage of the cameras 1080 but i don't like the idea of blowing 600 bucks just to do it
