I'm on day 9 of a 12 day shoot using an HVR-V1U. The camera seems to have locked itself into full auto mode. If you switch the auto mode to any position you get the message: "Invalid in Auto Lock / Hold mode." None of the manual settings (Iris, gain, shutter speed, white balance, etc) are operational. I'm hoping this is just some setting that I can't find. I found one article related to this online and the person claimed to pull the battery and replace it. But he also said he wasn't sure what made it start working again. We've tried this with no success.
