Okay, I have searched and searched, and I still have not found anything that clarifies how to use the V1's histogram display function. I understand it helps with the zebras to more accurately monitor exposure...but how do you read/use it?
Anybody who knows, please help!

Just read the x-axis as IRE, and y-axis as number of pixels that have corresponding brightness.

So what exactly am I looking for? Sorry, but I know nothing about this aspect of the cam. Tell me like you would tell a three year old.

OK, so imagine shooting in a dark room... Your histogram has white bars only at tle left (low IRE - brightness); the right side is empty. Now, go outside at aim at the sky (avoid direct sunshine!!!!!!). What happens is most bars fills the right side (around and above 100 IRE) of you histogram.
A well exposed scene is one with the histogram evenly filled, ideally (not necesserrily) with the upper edge horizontal. capito?
Now, if you switch the zebra on at 100%, a vertical brown bar will appear in your histogram. Try not to fill the histogram to the right of it, and you will never overexpose!

Thanks for all your help so far!
You say that a well exposed scene is one where the histogram is evenly filled. By evenly filled, are you saying the little bars that make up the histogram should be more or less be the same height and level across the top? I think that's what you mean.
Sorry, I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.
One more question:
You said that if you switch the zebra on at 100%, a vertical brown bar will appear in the histogram and that I should try not to fill the histogram to the right of it.
So where do I want the histogram to be at the right of the line. You said not to fill it, but is there something I should aim for? Keep it low, or in the middle?
Or are you saying that the histogram should not go passed the line?

Yes, you got it right. Of course, while not passing to the right of the 100 IRE prevents overexposure, you can allow some signal there - the V1 will handle it OK. For instance, a very bright spot in your scene may be overexposed in order to prevent other (perhaps more important) areas from underexposing.
With this amount of theory, you're already good to go and shoot, shoot, shoot - happy shooting!
