Shooting a feature in New Mexico in the desert, and dust and sand has found its way into the zoom and focus of my HVX. Lining up shots after the desert I've noticed the LCD reads a different number than the actual distance to my subject in focus. In other words, if my subject is 10 feet away, my focus numbers on the LCD will read 12 or 14 feet. Is this even possible?
It leads me to believe that the camera's sensor for focus and the actual focus ring are not connected, or got jarred loose. My focus ring is "crunchy." It's awful.
So I need to get it cleaned, and I'm embarrassed to say the camera is from Bway Photo & Video. Which means, well, I don't know. I really need to call Panasonic when I get home. But anyone know what my options are for a cleaning? Do I have a real warranty?
