I think all the veterans which disappear from last year should join this contest. That's a must. I'm joining too, my favorite subject.

I completely agree. I think a lot of us have just gotten really busy and other things have come up, but hopefully we can turn some things around with this round and really get a decent participation.

maybe some sort of prize would help after all everything is about drive :)

That's the problem... We've done that in the past and we wont do it again. It is not about bribing people to participate and if it should come down to that I'll just cancel the whole thing.

The original concept was to encourage people to get out and shoot and offer feedback on projects. That is still why we are here, as filmmakers who are using photography...

Pathetic but there's always tomorrow night.

Uploaded, but a lower rez than I usually do. I resized my image and did a bunch of tweaking on it and didn't notice that I was working on the smaller version in time. So it's 800 px wide so it's not bad, but yeah. I haven't been able to get the full rez to look quite as good so I'm uploading that one instead.

That should be fine. I've always resized mine to 640 px on the longest side. I think that's the max size that the contest website will display anyway.

I don't know, I'm just suggesting. But you may want to put that link in the first post of the contest (1rst post of EVERY round thread). I'm not really bright, but I'm kind of tired of looking for the contest link on the Round 2 thread... maybe I'm missing something.

I may not be the only one in this situation. The only link we see is the uploading link. The voting/contest site is never mentioned :/

(Yes I know we can bookmark things. But hey, It's only a suggestion ;) )

Looking forward to see everyone's entry. I know I wont be second this time... Not very inspired. But it's always fun to see what everyone as made all week.

A couple of announcements regarding these contests and this contest in particular:

1. Steve_Arm and I go through a lot of time and effort to out these contests together in the hope of spirit, community, competition, and improvement. We do this with no ego or ill spirit and just try to promote a sense of community.

2. People go through a lot of effort to go out of their way and participate. They take time out of their busy days and hopefully filmmaking schedules (as this is DVXUser) to improve another artistic venture.

THAT BEING SAID

Votes are now, as they have been, monitored. The intentional low voting of one image or group of images is grounds for disqualification and banning from these contests.

Steve and I will go through and remove the images and votes from those who have done this and should you find your images removed please feel free to contact me directly to discuss.

In the future to deter such actions full breakdowns of votings can be published rather than seen only by the site administrators.

Remember, we aren't doing prizes as this is more about participation and community, therefore do not try to stack the deck... You won't get away with it.

Now that that is out of the way, once again, a great round, some amazing images and expect to see next weeks challenge posted by Wednesday.

Brandon Rice
04-09-2007, 03:52 PM
Hey Jeremy, thanks for the update. I've been doing my best to vote as fairly as I see fit, and I agree, it's about participation and learning a new discipline that directly links to filmmaking.

Funny story, a buddy of mine saw some of my recent pictures and said, "Wow, I know you're a good filmmaker and all, but maybe your a better photographer!" And I said, don't you think the two go hand in hand? It's an important discipline to learn, if you have the time :)
