So we transfered footage from our music video shoot from HVX200 to the p2 store. I used the newest version of final cut to bring in the footage to begin editing. I started to sync the footage up to the actual album track to find that the sync would gradually shift over time. At the song's end (about 3 minultes long) the audio would be about a second or so out of sync. We had audio playback for the video off of a CD through speakers. The CD was the exact aiff file that i am syncing the video to.
Here are screen grabs of my settings:

any insight to what might be happening? please!
thanks!

Your sequence settings for audio are 44.1khz but your clip settings are 48khz.
If the file in the bin called "broadcasting.wav" is your audio file, it is at 48khz also.
So MAKE A NEW SEQUENCE and change the settings to 48khz

I am using the sequence called Master, and its set up for 48khz and the audio is still going off

I've cut a few music videos in my day. My guess is that the problem lies with using a CD as playback on set. While this is far superior to say a cassette, there is no lock to ensure its playback speed. Most ofter what we'd use for playback is a NAGRA or DAT. Even a VHS or DVD would likely be superior as they have to lock to a video signal. If they drift too far, they won't sync with their monitors...
As I see it you have two options. Speed change the song to match the duration of what was filmed, or slip the visuals over the course of the song to re-sync.

I actually just figured it out. Our CD player played back the song the slightest bit too fast. No more of that. We had to do it because our iPod broke. Bummer
thanks everyone
