I have a very basic question.

- 1280x720 --> 921'600 pixels (theor.)
- 640x360 --> 230'400 pixels (theor.) --> is this 1/4 or half resolution?

The Schubin Report podcast from August PM '06 edition explains this stuff in more detail. For example, a pixel in video is not the same as a pixel on your computer, or in your still camera. Very interesting info, good stuff to know.

It is half the resolution (half the number of pixels horizontally and vertically), and thus 1/4 the number of pixels.

wow, look at how much smaller a 960 X 540 pixel area is. now imagine, then blown up to the same zise as the 1080 X1920, imagine how much bigger the pixels must be.. This must be why the Dynamic range, on the HVX is so good.
