I am trying to import P2 footage from my external drive using the import p2 option in FCP. Earlier in the process I renamed the Contents folders "Contents2" and "Contents3". It seems to be finding the first file , "Contents", but not these two renamed ones. I guess I need to rename them "Contents". Renaming a file is easy in Windows - how is it done on a Mac?

First off - do not rename the "CONTENTS" folder....
The process is this.....
Make a new folder on your hard drive....
Name it P2_Card_001....
You copy the CONTENTS folder and last clip .txt to this folder....
So end of the day shooting you should have a bunch of new folders
named P2_Card_001 to whatever P2_Card_036
(I have shot as many as 60 4 gig cards in a day)
Now when you go into FCP and import P2 you point to
the folder P2_Card_01 - not the CONTENTS folder....
And renaming in MAC.....
Right click - Get info
To rename on a Mac, highlight the file, wait a second, click it again, the name is highlighted, type in the new name, go about yoru business.
Or you can do the right-click thing like Michael said.
