I've got two HVX-200s
I've had them for about a year and not had this happen before.
I was shooting a concert, changing out 8G cards as they filled up.
I imported using P2LOG and opened the files in FCP.
Everything is fine. All 8 clips (2 per 8G card) align perfectly except in one spot.
There are about 4-8 frames missing in between the end of one clip and the beginning of another.
I was just wondering if anybody had seen this before and or had any ideas about how to avoid future occurences.
I do a lot of long shoots on my 8G cards and dont want to be worried about dropped frames.

I happens on occation. Not often, but occationally, it happens. That's one of the dangers in using a format that chunks into small peices. I so wish DVCPRO-HD tape wasn't so expensive...

Just curious as to why use P2 log to import?
I have recorded for 2 hours continuous and just used the P2 import window in FCP and had all the cards in there and then added selection to cue and FCP takes the spanned clips and makes them one QT file, without the need to line up segments on the timeline.

I shot a documentary last summer. We are still shooting, but there is a chance its going to be a big deal. Any way... I was running 2 cameras by myself.
With two cameras, 6 8GB cards, and two P2 stores everything seemed to be going well.
Until there was an error in FCP and it wouldnt recognize the footage on the card.
So I got on DVXuser, and found that some people were having some of the same problems and they solved it by importing through other software.
I downloaded P2log and stuck my card in and all of a sudden it worked.
I dont really know why. FCP would start to import the clip and get all the way to the end and abandon it.
I've had this happen a couple other times. With footage so valuable as our doc footage, I cant afford to be missing even 20 min. I've felt so much safer having a second option as to importing, just incase anything goes wrong with one, I can try the other. When before, it was FCP or bust, I almost got busted.
It really has just been a great alternative solution.

I just had the same thing happen to me- shooting a concert, and lost a few frames between a clip spanning multiple cards. I capture using P2Genie on PC, render in Cineform, and edit with PPro 2. It only happend once on the many splices that I had (only 4GB cards for me)

I've talked to a couple other people who have had this happen before. I guess its something that happens. Now I know to try to avoid rolling over i guess....
