Well i've posted something similar but not explaining the whole situation, so I figured maybe some of you guys can help me out. I purchased my camera (DVX100b) through my fathers friend who is a manager for 6th Ave Electronic's. My father knows this guy for years and has been buying stuff (Entertainment centers, 60' DLP TV's) from this guy for a long time, even sends alot of ppl he knows to this guy. So the guy got me the camera (DVX100b) A UV Filter and a 3 year warranty, everything came out to $3100- after taxes. I Was so psyched about the camera and started checking it out the next day. I was taking some pictures to send to a friend to show him and noticed a small thing hairline scratch that travels along the side of the LCD screen (Not on the screen but on the outside, the plastic). I quickly began to really go over the camera with a fine eye now, then I notice a deep scratch on the bottom of it about an inch long. I checked the Metal piece where you can attatch a light on top and see lightly noticable scuff marks (leaving me to think that now this camera was def. used and/or returned). My fathers friend ordered it directly through his guy in Panasonic, so I don't really think it's his fault being that I've explained to him the situation and hes told me to bring it right back and well get a new one. But when we were at the store picking the camera up I was explaining to him that it's supposed to come with a free DVD and a book and it didn't then I realized that you have to send away for it. He stated he'd take care of the Book and DVD (Software) but told me the rebate was not redeemable because of something with the invoice (Maybe because he sold it to me for $2600- +TAX???). So now i've been hearing ppl are getting the camera for around $3000- and getting a $500- dollar rebate and their cameras are brand new indefinitely. What should I do should I just get my money back or make him order me a new camera?

Thanks for any advice as this is the only place I know of for help and info and you guy's have always helped out before. sorry for any typo's too typing to fast.

Well here's an update and i need alot of help with these few questions I have, so if anyone can help out it would really make it easier, thanks again.

I told you all the story and now today I finally got in touch with the friend and he said he spoke to his guy whom he ordered the DVX from and the guy told him he was sorry that this had happened and has granted me an HVX-200 when i return the DVX. Is it worth it to do this. I was just getting used to some of the features of the DVX and have no idea about anything on the HVX as I really studied alot of the DVX specs, which is why I purchased it in the first place. I know the HVX is HD (if im correct) but that's about all I know on it. How similar are the buttons on the HVX to the DVX? Does it have the same switches for the Filters, White Bal., Gain, Shutters, ETC. If anyone could get back to me i'd really appriciate it, thank you so much.

hes giving you a HVX for the price of a DVX? hmm sounds shady and to good to be true IMO.
Its best to deal with the authorized Panny dealers that are sponsors of this site!

Oh, I forgot to mention that he is an authorized Panasonic dealer. See the thing is its my friends, friend and he was really upset this all happened so he said to make up for it he was going to give me a new HVX-200 as an even return for the DVX.

Haha, in that case I guess i'll take the HVX hands down. I was checking out a bunch of pictures and seeing that, like you stated, is basically the same design only some buttons are in dif. spots, im sure i can work with it. Just gonna be a bitch buying those P2 Cards.

You don't have to use P2 cards. You can shoot SD with that camera onto regular MiniDV tapes.

Again, just make sure you examine the hvx completely when you get it, it's like $2000 more than the dvx, so if it's truly brand new, you got yourself a killer deal

Just got word they cant give me the HVX (Figured that one being that the diference was a little big) instead hes just going to get me a brand new DVX. Guess I got the shit end once again from this guy because I've been waiting for a month not using my camera so I can bring it back to get this new one, therefor not being able to film anything within the last month. Sucks but hopefully this one coming saturday will be brand new like they siad, if not im breaking the f**king thing over this guys head for putting me through this. I appriciate all the replies to help me out, so once again thanks and looking foward to stciking around.
