Hi Guys,

I'm going to be posting my film short next month or so on my site. In the past, I've always used either a .wmv file, quicktime file or real media file.

I've seen some video/films in a flash content that look very good and stream
quite fast. Anyone know how to go about this or what other software is out
there to accomplish the same thing?

Thanks very much.

Mark

Those are the only ones i can think of other than the youtubes, google videos and metacafes.

But id have to say that H.264 will give you the best quality and easiest compatibility (quicktime)

Best Flash encoder is Macromedia Flash Pro. I don't have it so I can't help any more.

Actually, I've been tinkering with a free Flash encoder called FFMPEG. The file sizes are slightly smaller than Adobe/Macromedia's encoder...and it's free! But, Flash is the way to go right now...some computers don't have QT, some don't have WMV, but the vast majority have Flash.

Otherwise, H.264 is the highest quality and most accurate.

Where did you DL that? On a quick search all of the websites say there isn't a release yet.

I've been using "Super" and am underwelmed.

Some computers dont have QT, but all computers CAN have QT, while not all computers can have WMV playback.

Some computers dont have QT, but all computers CAN have QT, while not all computers can have WMV playback. How do you Figure that? WMV Holds the second highest market share as far as compatability, first is flash.

Flash
WMV
Quicktime
Realmedia

EDIT: That is installed in peoples browsers, I just checked my streaming media magazine, and here are the current stats on Most used players

52% WMP
33.3% imbedded (Flash)
7.2% AOL Media player
3.5% itunes (Quicktime)
2.6% Other
1.4% Real media

what does that have to do with quicktime being available for the mac and the pc. while WMV is only somewhat supported but not fully on macs.

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=windowsmedia

It supports everything except DRM ridden files, But i was looking at the overall percentages of what is installed, not what it works on, what the maximum viewer base is.

the max viewer base would be something that can run on the most systems, not something that is already installed on more systems.

Flash video seems to be the flavor of day. At least with my clients.
Sorenson Squeeze will encode to flash.

Whatever you decide to do don't use real media. By far the worst of the lot.
