I tried shooting RAW+JPEG out of curioisty, and decided to compare the two.

From Camera as JPEG:

JPEG with highlight recovery in Photoshop:

RAW with highlight recovery:

I'm very impressed. I turned a completely ruined image into a mediocre one! Seriously, though, I'm shooting RAW from now on.

I'm shooting with a Rebel XT. How do I bring the RAW files into Photoshop. I can bring them into the Canon utility in which I can do color correction and exposer changes and then save them as a 16 bit Tiff and then take that into Photoshop. Is that what you did?

Yes, you can do that. That's what I used to do before I got Adobe Camera Raw. If you use Photoshop CS2, then the Adobe Camera Raw plugin can be downloaded off the Adobe website for free.

Wow that is quite a difference! I am going to have to try RAW out on my camera.
