So here's the idea I had:
It's about a schizophrenic man with a warped perception of the world, who, as a result of watching so many spy films, thinks he is in fact a real spy. He undergoes a "mission" in the interest of "protecting America from communism" by retrieving information from "soviet spies" on the wherabouts of some kind of non-existent weapon that he invented in his mind. He takes his mission to the streets, disturbing complete strangers he thinks are communists. Here's hoping I actually make the thing and enter into one of these contests for the first time.

When are you planning on shooting? Are you going to be shooting in Bakersfield?

Thanks to all for the kind words. I'll probably get started on the script soon.

Good story ideas. Of course it all depends on execution. And in large part, getting an actor that can pull both the story and the character off credibly. To me, that's always the biggest challenge--finding an actor that the audience will believe is the character that you wrote.

I don't know, I need to write the script and whatnot. I can't afford to shoot anywhere but bakersfield.

Actually, it sounds like a great role... something I'd love to play, but don't know if I'll get a chance to...

One thing I'll love most about this fest is the different interpretations people bring to the table for the whole spy subject. This should be fun, and I'm sure I'll see a BUNCH of films that make me go 'Cool! Why didn't I think of that?!'.

Best to you on your progress!

Thanks, that's very encouraging. Maybe I'll get around to actually making this thing now that I know there's some interest, which has given me a charge of filmmaking energy.

And if you get a chance to connect with Tom, (tommyinla), he's a great guy! A fine actor!

Best!
