I'm using Adobe After Effects 7.0

I'm trying to export an .AVI but the clip is all choppy and not smooth. I captured the video (which was shot in 24p) through Vegas then I changed some of the brightness/contrast through After Effects. But, when I export, it's not smooth and the quality isn't so great.

Help please? Thanks.

What kind of compression do you use for your .avi in AE?

I am quite at the same point, working with Edius Broadcast and Canopus lossles .avis i found the (same) loss of quality when i exported an canopus avi (losless) from AE...its mostly unsharp compared to the footage that was not encoded by AE....strange!

Export everythin as a Quicktime with the Animation codec. THat's a good losless codec will save you a ton of hassles. It also has an alpha channel, if you need it.

I've never had a quality issue, and the files are signifigantly smaller (usually less than 50%, someitmes, depending on the clip, as little as 15%) than uncompressed.
