I brought in some 24pA footage i shot with my v1u and tried to drag the files over to cinematools to do the reverse telecine and it wouldn't let me. i brought the footage in on the HDV 1080i Easy Setup in FCP.

thanks, jim

Somewhere on this site I detailed the workaround. I think this is the thread:

Reverse Telecine is greyed out because you captured HDV. HDV native capture means long GOP structure, which means most of your frames are not real frames. You'll need all I frames for Cinema Tools to be able to work with it.

Also, gnomebard, you wouldnt want to use a reverse telecine on 24p video. It is for film to video transfers as it is used to remove a 3:2 pulldown.

Hmmm, for the final cut EAST SET UP i see a couple choices: HDV 108024p and DVC PRO HD 10801 and the HDV 1080i. There is also the HDV-AIC codec in the capture settings once you're in FCP. I'll try that. I'm going to end up on video so most likely i'll just keep the pulldown but i want to test it out and see it there is a difference.

thanks, jim

Robert, the V1U (just like the DVX100) sticks its 24p inside a 60i wrapper. (Just like a flim to vid transfer). At present, Cinema Tools' rev tele is the only Final Cut way to ditch the interlaced frames. See the workflow I detailed in the other thread. So you would use rev tele on the 60i stream.
