Is the CMOS 1/4" chip the same in the HV10/20 as in the Sony cameras?

Any links to CMOS history/development as relating to the camcorders and the native progressive 24p?

Nowhere near the same, nothing alike. The V1 uses three clearvid 960x1080 sensors. The HV20 uses a single 3-megapixel bayer-pattern sensor.

And the CMOS in the HV20 isn't 1/4". It's 1/2.7".

Also the Sony camera is called the HVR-V1U. Not HV1.

So - is there any development history (re video photography) links for me to read?

DVi has some fairly comprehensive pre-release analysis.
As does Camcorder info.
But there's only one review available at this time via impress in Japan.
There are some crazy translated versions floating about.
I believe a link was posted a few pages back in the original HV20 thread.
