AE quits unexpectedly during rendering

Everytime I am rendering a composition (only12 seconds long) or even when I'm RAM previewing it, AE unexpectedly quits. I am using a new Mac Pro and it's AE 7, I'm rendering to an animation format at the highest quality. This didn't used to happen on my G4. Also the files that I've imported are stored on an external hd, one is on a USB2(unfortunately). Does anyone know why this would be happening?

I have used AE on a macbook pro with very intensive renders and never experienced a crash. Your file or one of your element could be corrupted .
