Ok, I have a LONG clip (over 3 8GB cards/60 min) shot at 720 pN.. It plays fine in the P2 IMPORT viewer, but when I import the file into FCP and try to watch it, it doesn't play.. Any ideas??? Does it matter how my external drive is formatted (FAT32) or should that have nothing to do with it?
PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks guys and girls!!
FCP can't edit from a FAT32 drive, period. Re-format that media drive to the Mac Extended format, it'll work fine.

I'll do that with my next drive.. But the odd thing is that this drive is formatted FAT32 from the manyfacturer and it worked fine till the larger file.. Oh well.. Thanks for your help!

That's normal. You're not supposed to use your System drive for media files. But if the project is small enough, it doesn't require too much horsepower or bandwidth, it works. But you get to a project big enough, then you learn why Apple has the requirements they have. Same with your situation. It'll work, if you're lucky, on small projecets. But do something with some beef, and you're hosed. You just found that out the hard way, that's all.

haha! Thanks bro.. I'm never worried when I can see the footage on the camera.. I always know I'm doing something wrong.. You can always output to digibeta in an emergency..
Thanks again!
