View Full Version : Sound Missing from clips on P2
I have 7 clips that fill up both P2 cards in my HVX. All shot with the exact same settings. BUT, only 2 recorded the audio. I had someone monitoring the sound as we shot, too! Said the level metters were going to down, heard the sound on headphones, nothing on the camera was touched by the record button during the whole shoot. Anyone have a clue as to what happened to our sound?

Were you using a mixer or mics plugged in directly? Was the person using headphones, listening to the output of the mixer or plugged into the camera (confidence monitoring)?
Lay out the way things were patched in/monitored and it might make it easier to troubleshoot.
I presume you didn't do any over/undercranking?
No over/under cranking. Actually using one on-cam mic and on lav mic. Headphones off the cam. No mixer. It's the oddest thing...

That's bizarre!.
When they said the levels were going down, was that a gradual decline in the audio levels?
Did these mics you were using require battery power?
No one said the levels were going down. The levels during recording were fine. The sound is plain missing, period. Not the batteries, first thing I checked. It's just very strange. Fortunatly, we are scheduled to re-shoot the interview. Not a problem, THIS time...

I guess I mis-understood this.
One last option. Were the audio channel buttons in the import P2 window of FCP unchecked by any chance? Also if you put the card back in the camera is the audio there?
Was your HP monitoring set to "Live or Recording"?
Is there any audio on CH's 3 & 4 of the clips from the onboard mic?
