can the fs-100 work with the varicam - has anyone used it this way and how smooth is the workflow?

Varicam doesn't have a firewire port, IIRC. So, no.

Much better to shoot on tape with that camera anyway. Then you have a physical thing with your footage on it that is rugged.

after shooting on the hvx to p2 for over a year I am nervous about tape.
With p2 i can get the footage on several places - with tape I only have one copy
