I'm gearing up to shoot some projects with my new Sony V1. I am going for a filmlook, and I am not sure whether I should use 24p or 24pa mode.

Are the "p" and "a" modes on the V1 the same as they are on the DVX? If so, I suppose I should use the "a" mode. That seems to be the recommended mode on the DVX.

I read something that said for editing on a 24p timeline (with software that supports it), you should use the 24pa mode.

What do you guys say?

No, the V1U doesn't have modes like the DVX does. The V1U always records using 2:3 pulldown. The difference between the modes appears to be related to whether it finishes recording a full group of frames when you stop a recording.

Shoot 24pa and follow the workflow as posted by magi in the threads 24p vs 24pa...
