Recently I have started editing HD 24p footage in FCP that was created by taking a 1080 24pa p2 video and stripping out the extra frames.
My question is now that the footage is true 24p what is the process to export the timeline to a 29.97 DVD?
Would it have been easier to keep the extra frames in the file to maintain the 29.97 frame rate but with the 24p look?
Is it a better workflow to stay 24pa if you are going to SD or DVD?
Thanks

If you have 24p material, you should edit in 24p. You should match your timeline to the timebase of your footage, for best results.
Now, as for the DVD, export as you would if you were making an NTSC DVD using any other kind of footage.
HOWEVER, there's no particular need for that. You've got 24p material, so there's no reason not to make a 24p DVD. It will save you disc space; there will be no interlace artifacting on progressive displays (computer screens, and HDTVs if played through a progressive-scan player), and any DVD player can re-insert pulldown and play the material as 29.97 to a standard TV if need be.

Thanks for that info!
I didn't realize I could make a 24p DVD and have it play back on any DVD player.
So basically there is no other reason to have to covert back to 60i?

Not really, unless you're wanting to go to a format which requires it, like (for example) tape.

Just remember that your recording software must be setup to add the flags that let the dvd player know that your footage is 24p footage. If not, playback will not be as expected.
