H.264 is, as CNET Reviews has called it, "the greatest codec ever!" At a San Francisco HD event this week, Panasonic representatives were confident that the HPX camera will be able to record in H.264 after a firmware upgrade. Whether this is possible for the HVX is not clear. The kicker is that the next version of Final Cut Pro Studio (the one with Shake) will be able to edit in H.264 native. As CNET's Brian Cooley likes to say, "Holy cow!"
