Dear All,

I am shooting at P2 1080/25p format and need to output the final cut done by Avid Xpress Pro HD to a digi-beta tape.

I know, just thinking it in a straight forward manner, I can just dub it the final cut to a HD tape by a DVCPRO HD deck, and then I just make a digi-beta tape dub from this HD tape.

However, I don't have this expensive DVCPRO HD deck hooking up with my Avid Mojo. So, say if I do want to make a HD tape dub from my final cut done by Avid, what can I do? Export to a file? What kind of file, MXF? I am really not sure.

Also, I have a very limited budget, and my client needs many versions and copies, totally around 10 hours, so I am thinking if there is any cheaper way to do.

Thanks in advacne for any inputs.

King

Does the Mojo not downconvert to SD upon output? Can it do that? If so, that is the option I'd do.

I am from FCP land, so I am not sure what the mojo can do. My capture card can downconvert when I output.

Thanks, Shane Ross.

Yes, I heard about that the new Mojo SDI can connect to digi-beta. However, my Mojo is the old model, which can only have component connection. Anyway, I don't have a digi-beta deck either, and I think to rent a digi-beta is quite expensive.

Neither MOJO will do a real-time down conversion.
You'd have to do a software file down conversion.

And...digibeta decks have component connections. At least the ones I rented did.

If you need 10+ hours worth of dubs the cheapest thing to do is rent the deck. A house is going to charge you way more. Keep in mind that in the tape world everything moves at real time (slower actually) so you'll have to pay for a tech as well as the studio time 125-175/hour+mark-up on tape stock. Good Luck.
