Hello -

New to the forum and to the camera - I tried searching for this - but haven't found anything. Sorry if it's been gone over before.

Got the camera two weeks ago, did a shoot at 720/30pn (the end result is for an HD monitor in clients lobby, read somewhere that 720/30p is best for video output, 24p best for film out), BUT I also shot at a frame rate of 24.

Questions:

By shooting 24 fps at 720p/30pn was I undercranking the footage?

Am I adding extra steps in the post process if I just shoot 720p/24pn at 24fps?

Why can't I change aspect ratio while in camera mode switched to P2 (on all scene files this was blued out until I switched to Tape mode and 480i)?!

Thanks for your help,
Eric

Yes, if you shot 24 fps while in 720p/30pn, then you undercranked. You should have no audio, and if you play the video/edit in a 30fps timeline, all motion will be sped up by 25% -- Keystone Cops.

If you record 24fps in 720p/24pn, you are minimizing storage requirements and eliminating pulldown removal. If you want the film cadence, this is the simplest way to go.

You can't change the aspect ration in any HD mode because they are all widescreen formats. If you want 4:3 in HD, you will have to crop in post. Menu options that are blue mean they are not available or applicable. You can change the aspect ratio in P2 mode if you shoot DV or DVCPro50.
