Quick Mask/Pen tool question

I'm drawing a mask with the Pen tool, and sometimes I need to move it around with the Selection tool before it's finished (open, not closed yet), but after I move it, the Pen tool starts a new mask.

I can Add vertices to the original mask (by clicking in between points), but it's a pain. Is there a way to simply continue adding points automatically to the mask- by dragging in new areas as you normally would?

It's a combination with Ctrl or Shift or Alt and clicking the last point you draw that makes it active to continue with one mask. Otherwise move the comp with the hand by pressing Space.
