I'm having problems with a recently purchased XL-2 (purchashed less than 1 year ago). I used the camera a few days ago to record video and audio (using a sennheiser hand held mic attached via XLR cables). It was powered by batteries. Yesterday, when trying to access the tape, the tape did not eject. In addition, the power would not work for the VCR, nor any of the record settings.

Here are the current steps I've taken:

1) Both the battery and the power cord to the XL2 were tested on older make of XL-2. Both worked fine

2) I tested another power cord and cable on the "malfunctioning" XL2. Same result.

Before I take this new camera to a maintainence shop, I'd like to know if there are any additional steps I can take to trouble shoot this myself. I feel there should be at least a few more steps I should consider.

I'd like to apologize to anyone, if everything I've stated here is trivial. My area of expertise is primarily post production. I'm hoping I can learn a few things about the XL-2 before our company spends money on its repair. In addition, I'd like to have a document ready for the repair-person to show that the company just didn't show up and say "the camera isn't working"
