Some questions working w/ dvrack HD after capturing .mov in files in 720p 24p:
1. I can't view the .mov files on my PC using quicktime. Do I need to download a specific codec? I can view it on my G5 Mac. I have QT player 7.1.3 on the PC.
2. When I import the .mov file into FCP I get the message:
"The media file is not optimized for Final Cut Pro. It is highly recommended you either recapture the media or use Media Manager to create new copies of the files to improve their performance for multi-stream playback."
Is this something I should be concerned about? It looks ok in the timeline. I have FCP 5.0.4.
3. I noticed when I bring the .mov file into the FCP timeline, I only get 2 audio channels. Is there a way to get all four in? Or are all 4 blended into two?Because the HVX always uses 4-channels in dvcprohd, I'd like to disable the built-in mic channels.
Thanks for any help.

Hey dlee,
I'm also having the same problem. Have you found out the answer yet? If so, please share!:dankk2:

From the help file within DV Rack2 HD:
"Two Channel Audio: DV Rack records only two channels of audio, and both must be passed through the camera and come into DV Rack through the FireWire cable. If your camera supports four channels of audio and you have four microphones connected, only two will be recorded through DV Rack."
also (from the help file, *Notes & Tips):
"QuickTime for Windows does not support DVCPro: At the time of this writing, the QuickTime Player for Windows does not have a codec for DVCPro footage, so you may not be able to review clips recorded in this format on a Windows platform (except, of course, within DV Rack)."

Hi deregenthal,
Do you have any idea as to why the error message (see above) appears in the timeline of FCP? After I render the file, everything seems fine. Just wondering if I'm working with a stable file or not. Thanks.
Yeh i get that error as well. I just hit render and it seems to work just fine. The render just whips through it like butter, so I've wondered about this as well.

I see this message and simply ignore it. The original files then playback without fruther ado... maybe the render is needed for sequences more complicated than two streams of 1080i with dissolves, but at least that plays fine on my system...
