ways to make money?

i have a dvx, a tripod, and an oktava and that's it. i've thought about doing weddings and commercials, but have no clue about how to get into either. i'm a fairly funny guy which would be good for doing commericals, but i don't know where to begin. any suggestions for a newb like myself?

Weddings: Go sell yourself to wedding advisors/consultants that often work at churches.

Commercials: Go sell yourself to the various ad agencies in town.

so if i shoot commercial for a business, how does it get on tv?

it's all about selling your services. terry lasater is right; get involved with weddings, ad agencies, live-shoots of bands performing,... or figure out what you want to do "long-term". then start building your reel, whether you want to get into making features, spots, or whatever your long-term goal is.
