Okay so I completed a feature film last year in July and have been in post with it for the past 6 months. The last month of post has been sound design and audio scrubbing as well as waiting for the titles to be completed. Today I got the rough titles back from the third titles guy we've tried and still......... They suck. Not only do they suck but they suck big time. I've given this titles guy a month for what should take a couple days at most to do and in that time the sound designer/audio mixer and I have been able to design the ENTIRE movie as well as scrub the ENTIRE movie! I have intrest for distro and am waiting on the TITLES! AUGH!!!! The worst part is this titles guy is the co exc producers friend and I'm most likely going to have to fire him. Any Suggestions? Just had to vent.

Yeah, I know how to do some AE stuff which is why I'm so pissed right now. I know that the titles we were sent represent about 2 hrs of pretty poor work which is suppoesed to represent my film. F**k that. I should of just done it myself. If I wasn't busy doing other aspects of the project and holding down a fulltime job and having my kid and trying to get ready to shoot my next feature I would of never even thought of using someone else. In the end I might just end up doing the titles... AUGH!

Fire him, but do it nicely. Don't make it personal. Explain that it's just not working out. And then move on.

Sorry to have started this thread and then not been up on it, yesterday was a doosey.
1. I had to calmly try and talk to my fellow friend/co exc producer about the nature of his relationship to his friend in this situation, explaining to him that he was now his friends boss and that as such should be able to demand quality work and critique (F****ING BU****IT WORTHLESS) less than exceptable work.
2. I calmly and professionally talked to the titles guy about how his work was not what we had discussed and how I felt as though he was not meeting my standards. He defended himself by saying that we were less than clear about what we had expected and left too much room for interpritation (WHAT!!!!) (SCREAMING INSIDE AT THIS POINT AS I WROTE A 10 PAGE OUTLINE AND DID GUIDE TITLES AS WELL AS STORYBOARDS). We left off with his saying he was going to go back and try and bring the titles more into our vision.
3. I had to drink JD untill I wasn't angry enough to light my head on fire.
Spidey if you PM me we might be able to talk.
