Hey,

Glad to be here. Just got my HVX200 two days ago and have learned a lot, but much more to go. Right now I am trying to capture from Firewire port on camera to MacBook Pro FW 400 Port. When I put the HVX into 1394 Device Mode, (pg 82 camera manual) it mounts the P2 card I have in camera on the desktop as No Name.

I tried opening Capture Now in FCP 5.1.2 but it showed a video stream from my built in iSight camera, not the HVX.

The other 1394 Host mode says it goes to a hard drive, which I believe is only like the Firestore, not a simple FW drive as illusrated in the manual.

So my question is, how do I use the video stream from the HVX directly into FCP in Capture Now mode? Is this being complicated by the presence of a P2 card in the camera? I know you can use this camera over Firewire without a P2 card, but of course the manual doesn't go into that.??

Download my FS-100/FCP video below in my signature.

You go to Import > Panasonic P2, do not go to the log and capture window, as there's nothing to "capture", it's already "captured" to the P2 cards. You just need FCP to "import" the files.

To capture live, leave the camera in Record mode, set your capture in the Log and Capture window to Non-Controlable Device, and capture. The HVX should not have to be actually recording, just in stand-by in record mode.
