Blue bars...what do I do?

I have some MiniDV footage shot on the hvx that needs to be edited, but when it was loaded into FCP, blue bars lace the footage. Am I screwed?

Maybe. When the footage was captured apparently there was a head clog in the camera or deck. Try cleaning the heads and re-capturing.

If the head was clogged during recording, the footage may be permanently lost. But more likely, it's a head clog during playback; cleaning the heads should fix it.

did you end up cleaning the heads for the lines to disappear? I'm curious also, how many hours did you have on it when it happened.?

I have the same problem. The recording time was 650 hours when it happened Gilles.

did cleaning the heads (10s with a head cleaning tape) hep?

Funny thing is that in my case, I swapped tapes, reset the camera, started/stopped and they magically disappeard. I still bought a cleaning tape and will run it for 10s.
