i'm about to get my dvx100a today (at least, according to the ups tracking system). I've heard a good number of "complaints" about the technical build of this camera, but then again, i figure that it might be because only people who have problems with it post their replies and that there might be a lot of people out there whose cameras came very intact.
Am I being paranoid, or are my fears substantiated.
Welcome.
I'm a month in to my DVX100A, I love the camera. The people and knowledge at this site amaze me daily. Sit down with your favorite beverage and search all the topics you are interested in.
Once again.
Welcome.

The DVX is the best video camera I have ever used, and I'm not kidding. It's durable, small enough (But also large enough!) and the picture is far superior to anything within the price range. I've been shooting with it for about five months now, and I've not had a single problem with it!
Today I had to use an XL1 as a behind the scenes camera for a short film my friend is doing...I am GLAD I got a DVX 8)

Hi, Nguyen,
It depends on what you're used to. I didn't get to hold a DVX until the one I bought came in the mail. To be honest, the first day I was afraid the thing would fall apart every time I picked it up. It just didn't feel very sturdy at first. That was probably in comparison to the $25,000+ Panasonics and the old betacams that I sometimes use at work. But like almost everyone else on this board, I now think it feels great, not too heavy and not too light. Great size. Great build. Also, as long as they are packed well, they ship great. They even survive quite a few drops according to many people on the boards (I'm not going to test mine!).
Congrats on your new DVX!
