So i'm getting ready to order a new macbook and i just saw that there is no PCMCIA. I searched the forums and found that an adapter is being made, but is that it? Just one adapter? How can i get my footage onto my computer while on set? And i don't want to stream it because that would take forever. Any suggestions or adapters that are out now?

The Duel Systems adapter is not yet shipping. I would imagine it should be soon and that would solve the problem.

As Ned points out, there is nothing out there as yet.

Those who are in the beta program use the Duel Systems adapter. :D
Those who are not use either USB or Firewire to connect to their systems.
I was using USB 2.0 to connect my HVX to my Macbook Pro without any fail. 100% success rate.

fwiw: the older powerbook titaniums have the p2 slot.

That is how I am getting my footage off the cards. My Producer also has a cheap PC laptop (Dell) that he uses....$699.

yeah i knew the old powerbooks had them. So with the USB or firewire can i directly import the clips as seperate files like with the p2? Or do i have to stream it?

The files on the p2 card are recognizable in FCP 5.1. With my friends old powerbook i could just drag them into FC and it would register them as clips. How can i do that with the firewire/USB. I've never done it that way. Does it allow me to do the same thing or do i have to capture it as it's playing from the camera and log the clips myself?:badputer:

when you plug the camera into the computer and hit some buttons it mounts just like the p2 card does if it was inserted into a pcmcia slot. but i don't think final cut directly recognizes mxf files in that way does it? i always go through the log and capture method to import the p2 files. wasn't aware of a drag and drop into fcp.
