Just thinking, you can get negative insurance so if your raw negative is bad, not from user error, then you can get money back. They should offer P2 insurance so when P2 files get corrupted, you can get money back on a shoot. that would be awesome.
btw its a joke, but it could work

dont joke - according to my contact at film emporium - the digital files would be covered under negative coverage since they arguably act the same.
Of course the underwriter will contest but they likely are covered

really? i didn't expect that... i'll have to look into that for my next p2 production
That's really interesting, I just assumed, up until now, that P2 would fall under the same kind of category that hardrives do, which are not covered by insurance.

What company would you recommend for such coverage? Thanks, James

noah - according to film emporium when I asked - footage on a hard drive would be covered under negative insurance - they did say it would be a fight with the underwriters but that was what I was told - of course you should check for yourself,
Keep in mind it only covers footage taken during the policy and while the policy is in effect - so when the shoot is done and the policy expires there is no protection - its meant to protect footage on the set the same way film negatives are protected only on set.
