View Full Version : Red Color Separation? How to...?

Hi everyone,

I designed a print ad for my boss and he says that the printing house asks for the Red Color Separation in the print ad. What does this mean? and How am I about to accomplish this without looking stupid with my boss :-)? Please advise.

I'm using Photoshop CS and design the print in CMYK mode.

well, one problem off the bat is if you are working in CMYK, there is no red. I can't imagine what the print house would need something like that for, aside from a screen printing of some sort. THey should certainly be able to take care of that by themselves.

However, if you were working in RGB and someone wanted red color ceperation, I would try giving them a file with the green and blue channels removed. But, that would essentially be a monochomatic grayscale image.

Maybe they are wanting files with each color channel seperated.
