Just messing around today trying to make sure i have my cam down before i do anything serious.

LOL! the jamaican accent was classic.
how do you encode from 60i to 720p. i had a very hard time getting to work. i was using quicktime-h264 with 2000K bitrate and my video came out all shrunk and quality was #(*&@

lol, thanks guys. I figured i would attempt to make it somewhat entertaining.
dcrin3, i am not shooting 60i, im shooting 24F. Although it should be the same. What program are you using to encode your H.264 with? perhaps i can make a tutorial for you....

ok, thats what i use. Would you be willing to spend $40 on a program called tmpgenc 4.0? Premiere's encoder is a pile of shit. I can make a video tutorial for you on how to do it exactly the way i did. :)
heres a link to the product.

I couldn't help but notice the xbox 360... Side geek note... I have a 50" plasma that is in my living room (a long distance from my computer) and didn't have any real way to get HD video to it (HD-DVD or Blu-ray burner)... I just connected through my 360 and encode to WMV or MPEG and presto! HD content everywhere in my house... : ) The 360 helps out a lot when it comes to the video end of things... Nice little "Do it all machine.."

who knows what the hell i was trying to do. lol. Just wanted to add some fun to it.
And as far as primiere's media encoder, its the worst media encoder i have EVER seen. My recommendation is getting TMPGENC 4 and canopus pro coder. Premieres encoder is a waste of time and energy. Put out the extra money or... find it on the grey market, but you didnt hear that from me.

i have to agree. encoder is @(*&@ useless! i told premiere movie export for a 1920x1080 and i get a 4:3 ratio movie all the time! even on Anamophofic HD(1.33). It also produced a freaking 1.2GB file out a 3min 20sec clip!

ok, updates. I just created an XviD file thats about 122MB ~ 3200kpbs. its good but not as good as h264 would look. so i have a few questions.
1) why would anyone use 60i, and how do you edit it in premiere when the Canon Presets dont include it on the list?
2) why does Premiere Pro 2 include an encoder that seems defunct? I mean i cannot generate a product in HD at all. Everything is #(*&#*@. why why why? its cost freaking 600 bucks for a piss of (#*&#@

1. You don't need a Canon preset to edit 60i, just use the generic HDV 1080i preset.
2. No clue. I like Premiere enough (been using for years), but their encoders have always been... so-so at best. Third party is definitely the way to go.

I am not a fan of premiere at all... I use Sony Vegas and get some stellar results... It's fairly intuitive with what you would expect.

you need to download the canon presets for premiere found on adobes site.

Really? I've been exporting 24F footage to wmv through Premiere Pro Encoder and it looks great. 5 minutes video came out about 350 mb, with the correct resolution. I use the stock WMV 1080 24p 5.1 setting.

well, premiere can encode windows media well. (one of the worst codecs ever made in my opinion) But it sure as hell doesnt do H.264/MP4 and xvid well. Your much better off using Gordian Knott.

correct. I used VDub for mine to generate an xvid. but I still have to export some MPEG2 file out before hand. That means twice the work.
thewho, mind telling me what quality/codec you export from premiere then send to TMPGEnc Xpress?

tomorrow i will be making a full tutorial on how i do it. I dont actually export to any codec, but rather make a "dummy" avi file using debugmode frameserver. You can find information on it via google untill i get that tutorial done tommorrow. :)
