Can someone explain to me why the CMOS chips equal a greater depth of field?

Also, will the guerilla 35 lens work with the V1U?

Thanks alot

CMOS doesn't automatically equal better depth of field. The size of the chip will play a big role. The V1U uses CMOS chip but smaller size (1/4'') so it might be more difficult to get DOF.

Smaller chips need a wider-angle lens to deliver a comparable field of view. Wider-angle lenses = deeper DOF.

Um.... Wider angle lens means you can get a more shallow depth of field? Of course, like everyone else and their grandma, I want a shallow depth of field to simulate film as much as possible. I was hoping the G35 lens would give me this.

Wider lens = deeper DOF. More telephoto lens = shallower DOF.

Small chips need wide-angle lenses to deliver a usable field of view. Larger chips use longer lenses for the same field of view. Which is why the larger-sensor formats (like 35mm film or 2/3" video) have shallower depth of field for any given subject size, as compared to the small-sensor cameras (like 1/3" CCD or 1/4" CMOS cameras).

A mini35/G35/M2/Letus type of lens adapter will give you the same shallow DOF as a 35mm movie camera, regardless of what type of camera you mount it to.

Ah, you beat me to it.
