I'm really liking the P2 workflow for turnkey projects that I handle or my editing partner handles. However.... I'm having some challenges with shooting for clients where they handle the edit. People are still wary of P2 especially when they are integrating it into a conventional tape workflow. I'm open to suggestions and solutions that others have used for the following scenario.
I'm one of the photographers for a corporate project that includes several other photographers. We are all shooting DVCPRO 50, but they (as far as I know) are shooting tape and I P2. The producers concern is in regards to logging my (P2) footage. The companies facility is handling the edit, and they'll be using DVCPRO decks for the producer to log on.
My question: What would be the best way for me to integrate my P2 footage into a logging workflow that will otherwise be VTR based? Keeping in mind, that it's very importantance of minimizing any "P2 hassle", perceived or real.
Some possible considerations I thought of already. She can log at the post facility, but it will tie up their system. Burning a DVD with window burned Qt's, letting the producer use my powerbook with FCP and the footage for logging. The probelm I have with the latter solution is of me getting more involved in the post process, and using my gear without neccesarily being compensated for it...
